About the City of Bronson Wastewater Treatment Plant
The City of Bronson Wastewater Treatment Plant serves the City of Bronson (population 2,303).  Bronson is located on US-12 between Coldwater and Sturgis.  Bronson is within an hour drive of major cities including; Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, and Fort Wayne, Indiana.  The current treatment plant underwent significant expansion in 1993, and is well-maintained.  The plant occupies a 4-acre site adjacent to County Drain 30 which flows to Swan Creek.  The plant is rated to treat .5 MGD, and has one (1) Utilities Director and one (1) wastewater treatment plant employee.  The City also has three (3) Department of Public Works employees that assist with the plant on a limited basis, along with the operation and maintenance of the sanitary collection system and water distribution system.  The budget for 2022-23 is just over $500,000 in revenues and operating expenses.

About the Position
Utilities Director is the plant's chief executive officer and is responsible for the facility's administrative, operational, planning, compliance reporting, and financial aspects. The incumbent is retiring after over 42 years of service to the Plant.

Qualifications
Well-qualified candidates will have five or more years of managerial experience, including five years’ experience managing a sewer and/or water organization comparable to the Plant, and a college-level education with an emphasis in engineering, business, public administration desired, or another applicable combination of experience and education. Certification under the state of Michigan wastewater operator licensing program is advantageous. A wastewater “C” license is required to operate the plant. S-3 and D-3 Michigan water licenses are also highly desired.  Candidate should have, or must be able to obtain licensing in short order.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $78,000 DOQ. Compensation includes an excellent comprehensive benefits package, including but not limited to an excellent health care plan (BCBS); flex medical reimbursement plan; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; defined benefit pension plan; life and AD&D insurance.
