The City has been awarded $20,000 in additional funds through MSHDA's Neighborhood Enhancement Program:
If you live in the Buchanan Street, Washington Street, North Lincoln Street, or Winona Street neighborhood you may be eligible to apply for an exterior home improvement grant through a MSHDA & City of Bronson partnership.
The following are the requirements to be eligible to apply for a grant:
Eligible repairs include the following:
Grant awards are available up to $7,499. Grants will be awarded to approximately 3 homes. To apply please submit the attached application and two contractor estimates to City Hall at 141 S. Matteson Street, Bronson, MI 49028 or by email to b.mersman@bronson-mi.com.
Applications will be chosen based on verified eligibility and then scored on the basis of severity/necessity of projects and safety concerns. The highest scoring project will be first, and so on. The goal of the program is to improve the exterior appearance of the eligible neighborhood properties and projects that receive funding will have a large impact on the visual appearance of the neighborhood.

The following are the requirements to be eligible to apply for a grant:
- Live within the boundaries of the Grant (Buchanan, N. Lincoln, Washington or Winona Streets).
- Must be homeowner-occupied (6 months or more), meet MSHDA income guidelines, and own a home that is considered blighted or has a safety hazard.
- Be current and not delinquent on property taxes, mortgage/land contract, must not be subject to any citation or violation of state and/or local codes or ordinances, have homeowner’s insurance, and not be the prior owner of a property that went to tax foreclosure.
Eligible repairs include the following:
- Roofs
- Exterior painting
- New siding, gutters, soffits
- Walkways (on private property)
- Front porches
- Front Doors/Windows (if done with at least one other exterior improvement component listed above)
